Flood Insurance: What Information Helps Produce a Better Quote?

Flood insurance is separate from a standard homeowners policy. A useful quote review starts with the property address, occupancy, year built, foundation type, requested building and contents coverage, and any flood-zone information you already have.

If you have an elevation certificate, prior flood policy, current declarations page, or documentation of prior flood losses, keep those available. They may contain information that is difficult to recreate from memory and can help reduce back-and-forth.

Not every property requires the same documentation and not every market uses the same rating approach. C.H.A. can review the information you provide against the flood paths currently available to the agency.

A quote does not determine whether a future loss is covered. Coverage depends on the actual policy, effective date, exclusions, limits and carrier or program rules.
