Classic and Collector Vehicle Insurance: Why a Standard Auto Quote May Not Fit

A collector vehicle is often used, stored and valued differently from a daily-use car. A quote may focus on agreed value, annual mileage, storage, restoration or modifications, driver experience, and whether household drivers have separate daily-use transportation.

The vehicle’s year, make, model, VIN, purchase history and current value are important starting points. Photos or valuation information may also be requested later depending on the carrier.

Usage matters. Shows, club events, pleasure driving, parades and occasional trips can be treated differently from regular commuting or business use.

Because collector programs can have eligibility requirements, the intake should describe how the vehicle is actually used rather than how you think a carrier wants it described.
